"We are afraid of beauty because we fear what it might tell us." ~Douglas Murray

When Zues spared Hecate- he gave to the Alluring Titan- and the Only Titan he allowed to survive under his new world of Gods and Goddesses many a darkly dwelling Torch bearing Nymph of irresistable beauty. These Nymphs and Naiads are called Lampades.  So it goes- her new little alluring army of Lampades are armed with the ultimate attractors in the dark Underworld: - torchs of lovely bright, warming, exciting Fire. Soft! Behold as they follow her, surrounding her in ghostly lighted processions. I would tell you my friend not to stare into their inviting light for it has driven stronger men to lose all of their senses completely but then-- your eyes may wonder into... theirs.

This is a cruel place. Apollo does not dare to venture here to donate his great light. Still- for all of the strife within it- I say the Underworld is less a monument it's ruler, Hades- who atleast has a place in his dark heart for those of us who fell here- and more a reminder of the terrible Zues who has no time or patience for outsiders and sentences us to the loneliness of the great below.

When You are here you feel the rising dread of your own need for mercy. Finding your own strength in such a dark golgotha is folly my sad friend. I look into this darkness from time to time and think... It would be easier to just be able to see her- Hecate. To know what the everywhere looks like by seeing the everywhere Goddess. The Titan Goddess. Cthonic Goddess-The one who leaves the Underworld whenever she wishes and does and always feels compelled to return. All you can do is look away from the many lights she has sadistically provided you. It be the one thing you yearn for. Light. That is how dark it is. Anywhere else- Light is a blessing.

Hecate- Goddess of the Moon, Witchcraft, Crossroads, Necromancy, and Protector of Entrances. The Everywhere One has twisted that illumination that I so long for into a deranged promise of madness to anyone who looks directly into it. Now then I have this beautiful stranger tempting me with the heat of her all-promising light.  Yet as if out of her own act of mercy- Though she has come so close to me- she has not brandished the light I desire to see- infact- she has covered the torch with her hand. Is it to spare me? Careful not to meet her gaze, I take her in. How can I help wanting her? O to take her in my arms.

But if I close my eyes to her beauty and to the light's benevolence and I reach out for her...

Then can win her?

If I see her contours with my hands rather than my eyes- will this be Hecate's gift to me? If I look upon those lips with my own kiss instead of sight... will I be lord of this Golgotha's little Lampad before me?

How did I get here? Where the thing I could want the most... is what will drive me to utter Madness?

Faith be with me. Ye be all I have. I reach out for her. Her little arm is in my hand. She makes a sound. Like a moan. I move to open my eyes. Then I catch myself and mentally sew them shut with faith. She is allowing this. I've done it. I've got her. O but what a torment. I want to open my eyes. And know her. Her temptation is too great. I can feel the threads with which I mentally sewed closed my eyelids- beginning to rip. I want to see her again. At last they are opening. I have no strength left. I will go the way of madness. I will be lost to the Hades. I will go worse- to Tarterus. I see the first beautiful blur of her- just before she moves quickly...

To kiss my Eyelids closed again. Faith has come. Mercy has come.

And now... a kiss better than any light a torch in the Underworld could provide.
